About Boxcar Players

This organization is a theater group run by young people for young performers and technicians. We are striving to provide opportunities and experiences unavailable in our community by focusing on leadership experience in production positions and unique source material to challenge actors. We aim to achieve these goals by putting on a 4-6 week rehearsal process to perform a full-length, primarily black-box musical, meaning minimal costumes and sets are used. Utilizing black box theater will allow us to encourage artistic character development and choices, creative production techniques, and unique design to further the story. We hope to put on our first musical this summer from late May to late June. Thank you for your continued interest and support!

Founding Director

Nolan Toney is a senior at Greenbrier High School and is very passionate about theater and leadership! He has been acting with various organizations, including the Pack Players, GRAYT, and the Augusta Players for 8 years, and directing with Greenbrier for 3. He has been nominated for Shuler Awards in both acting (2024) and directing (2025). He has found his great joy in the production aspects of the arts and plans on pursuing an education in theater at UGA to continue his directing and one day pass on his passion to others as a theater educator himself. He is thrilled to be the founding director of The Boxcar Players. It is his vision to use the new program as a way to further involve young people in the arts outside of their school in both performance and production positions.
